Ever find a great coloring sheet on the web?  Ever printed it out for your students to color?  Ever thought about using the computer to color it?  It can be done!  Follow these simple directions.  They are designed for Win 98 users.

1.  Locate a coloring sheet.  Great examples can be found at Billy Bear (http://www.billybear4kids.com/games/print/n-play.htm).
Christmas coloring sheets can be found at Billy Bear's holiday page (http://www.billybear4kids.com/holidays/christmas/print.htm).
More selections can be found by doing "coloring sheet" a web search. Google and Yahooligans yielded several choices.

2.  Once a coloring sheet has been located, put the mouse over it and right click the mouse.  Left click "Save Image As..."  Then choose where the file will be stored.

3.  Open Paint (Click Start...Programs...Accessories...Paint).

4.  Click File...Open.

5.  Since Paint defaults to .bmp files you might need to change the File of Type option to All Files.  If the file you saved was in a .bmp format the remaining steps may be skipped.  If the file is a .bmp format but will only allow shades of gray for the coloring in Paint, resaved the file as directed in Step 6 below.

This will open the file, but in order to use Paint to color the image you must resave it in another format.

6.  Click File...Save As...

7.  When you save the image, change the File of Type to 16 Color Bitmap.

You will receive this warning.

Click Yes.
Now that the image has been saved in this format it can be colored in Paint and if desired, resaved in a .gif format.
