You can create simple banners for web pages or personalize your own clipart using PowerPoint. There are 2 samples above. The top banner has a solid background. The second banner above had a solid background, but by using Microsoft Photo Editor which is a component of Office 97, the background color has been made transparent.
Here's how to do it...
Open PowerPoint
Click File…New…Web Pages
The area on your screen will be your banner. Click
and delete the images and text on your screen. You can choose to
use a design background or a color
just as you would with any other PowerPoint presentation. If you
want the background to be transparent,
you should select a solid color background that is not the same as any
color you would use in your clipart or Word Art. You may also add
Word Art or clipart just as
you do with any other PowerPoint presentation.
Saving gif banners
Click File…Save As…
Select the location to save your file and the name for
your banner
Under File Type select Compuserve GIF
Click Save
In the next box you will be asked if you want to export
every slide in the presentation…click No
When you exit you will be asked if you want to save changes
you made to Presentation 1…if you want to save this as a template for future
use, click Yes…if not, click No.
Note: PowerPoint GIF extension is always saved as all caps. If you need your extensions to be lowercase you must rename the GIF extension using lower case letters by right clicking on the file name and left clicking rename.
