Welcome to our first grade! In our class we learn how many things grown and change. By studying a class tree we observe growth and change through the four seasons: how the leaves change color and fall, how new buds and seeds form in the spring, a nd how new green leaves form in the summer. We also study ourselves noting many changes form the first of the school year to the end. In September we measure and weigh ourselves and make samples of our handwriting and drawings. In May, we gather the same samples to make
comparisons on how we have changed.
In our classroom we incorporate ten learning centers which we visit during reading group time in the afternoon. We enjoy these because we learn to work independently and can review skills that we already know.
We also have a classroom library which we enjoy very much. It is just like a real library because we each have our own library card. We have a self checkout system which works great. We love all of the many books we can read and are so excited about he world of independent reading we have just discovered
