The Covenant Health and the Knoxville Marathon are
sponsoring a one mile Kids Run starting at the World's Fair Park
on Saturday, April 2nd at 6:00 pm.
-
On
that day, the children will run their last mile together and
finish on the 50-yard-line at
Neyland Stadium, the same finish line that athletes will use the
next day for the Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon.
- Registration for the
one-mile fun run can be found online at
knoxvillemarathon.com or with Mrs. Stepp at the Family Science
Night Thursday, February 24th.
- Walking Track on the
elementary playground is under construction. Five laps
around the track equals a mile. We do not have a completion
date right now because of the winter weather and funding. We
are seeking sponsors and/or workers to help construct the track.
If you know of someone or a company that would help us complete
the track please contact
Mr. vineyard.
- Coach Lakin's weight
training classes have begun in the auditorium from 3:30-4:30 on
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday . The class was designed to
strengthen the track team but many other students and staff
members are enjoying the class.
- The Big Gym is open at 7:15
a.m. to walk or jog with Coach Stepp.
- The school has an exercise
room for RSS staff. It has two treadmills, a stair stepper,
a stationary bicycle, and a bow-flex!
-
Pound for Pound Challenge
is in conjunction with the Second Harvest Food Bank, the same
organization that sponsors our Weekend Backpack program. For
every pound you pledge to lose, they will donate 11¢ to Feeding
America® — enough to secure one pound of groceries on behalf of
local food banks.
