Objectives 
In this lesson, students will: 
· Students will use the Internet to research earthquake information
· Compile data on recent earthquakes

15 minutes daily

Materials
1. Internet access 
2. Research materials
3. World map
4. Printer

Procedure
1. Students research the many earthquakes and find what causes them.  This information can be access through the California Institute of technology’s Seismological Laboratory website:  http://www.gps.caltech.edu/seismo/seismo.page.html
2. Students plot with pins locations in the world where there is earthquake activity.
3. Discuss seismological technology and how it is used to determine the magnitude of an earthquake.
4. Download and print images from the above website.
