Race to the Top

Jefferson County Schools, JCEA, and the Jefferson County Board of Education have submitted a memorandum of understanding in order to participate in the state's initiative for Race to the Top.  The federal Race to the Top program will make millions of stimulus dollars available to a small number of states pursuing innovative educational reforms, and officials have said Tennessee is a competitive candidate.  To be considered for funding, the state must draft a plan to radically reform education and get local districts, teachers unions and board members to support it. This comes on the heels of a major reform — geared at beefing up curriculum to ensure that students are college ready — enacted this school year.  Update Info
