Overview

Students will learn to form plural and possessive nouns through a variety of activities, both individual and group.

Time Frame
3 days, 45 minute periods

Objectives

In this lesson, students will:

• Add endings to form plural nouns.

• Use the apostrophe to form possessive nouns.

• Distinguish between plural and possessive nouns.

Day 1

• Explain plural forms of nouns.
• Students use jigsaw puzzles, matching base words to plural endings.

• Explain possessive forms of nouns.

Day 3

• Review plural and possessive forms of nouns.
• Students write on individual dry erase boards PL or PS to indicate plural or possessive when shown a flash card.
• Students complete paragraph on "The Family Reunion," marking correct or incorrect beside the noun.

The student will develop the reading skills necessary for word recognition, comprehension, interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and appreciation of the written text.

Extend reading vocabulary utilizing sight words, phonetic and structural analysis, and context.
