Overview

Students will write a first person narrative that will include the story elements: plot, characters, setting, mood, and theme. Their narrative will focus on a personal achievement.

Time Frame
5-45 minute lessons

Objectives

In this lesson, students will:

• Sequence the events of a personal achievement.
• Identify the story elements: plot, characters, setting, mood, and theme.
• Write a personal narrative using the elements of a story.
• Use the stages of the writing process.

• Students will brainstorm for a personal achievement.
• When they have a topic, students will create a story web to sequence the events of their narratives.
• Students will include the story elements as they create their story webs.
• Students will then follow the stages of the writing process as they write their narratives.
• Students will type their final copies on the computer.

Improved student achievement through the use of technology as a tool to enhance the reading curriculum.
