David Swann, 2009-2010 Teacher of the Year, Grades 5-8
   
David Swann is a seventh and eighth grade science teacher at White Pine School.  He has a total of eight years of experience as a classroom teacher.  He has served as a presenter for numerous science workshops and was a member of the Classroom Management Panel for the Teacher Induction Program.  He serves as a teacher mentor and has worked with numerous student teachers.  Mr. Swann has been a member of the Dynamic Curriculum Team, STEM, and Science Online.  He was honored in 2006 as White Pine School's Teacher of the Year and is a member of the school leadership team.  In 2006 Mr. Swann founded the hugely successful Mindflight Science, a summer science academy for students in grades K-12.   The Jefferson County School district is proud to announce his selection as the 2009-2010 Grades 5-8 Teacher of the Year.
