Report of Progress (14 weeks into the program)

  • There was a 4% increase in Basic Proficiency Growth Level among Jefferson Middle School students as reported by Read 180.
  • Students had an overall 19 SRI (Lexile) score improvement.  The Lexile Framework for Reading measurement matches reader ability and text difficulty on the same scale, called the Lexile scale.  Each grade level increased the SRI Lexile score as follows:
    • Grade 6 - 28 points
    • Grade 7 - 4 points
    • Grade 8 - 23 points
  • ThinkLink comparison of the fall (P Test) and winter (A Test) tests results indicate:
    • Grade 6 - Increase percentage of students performing advanced in the areas of meaning, techniques and skills, and writing organization.  The areas of content, meaning, techniques and skills, and writing organization had an increase in percentage of students performing proficient.
    • Grade 7 - Increase percentage of students performing advanced in the areas of meaning, techniques and skills, writing organization and writing process. The areas of content, vocabulary, writing organization and writing process had an increase in percentage of students performing proficient.
    • Grade 8 - Increase percentage of students performing advanced in the areas of grammar, vocabulary, and writing process. The area of vocabulary had an increase in percentage of students performing proficient.
