Camp Happy Tails
Forty-five lucky students at Jefferson Elementary School are spending the month of June at Camp Happy Tails. We are an animal themed camp, telling many happy tales (stories) about lots of happy tails (animals).
Each half-day, we are reading about animals, learning about animals, visiting with animals, and writing about animals. We’ve had the Knoxville ZooMobile and Panther Creek State Park Rangers come visit us with some ambassador animals. We’ve taken a trip to the Zoo to see many more animals and will take a trip next week to the Gatlinburg Aquarium. We will have some visits from some former shelter dogs, a trained therapy St. Bernard, and will take a virtual field trip to the Jefferson County Humane Society.
One of the most exciting parts about our camp is that each student will get to take home about 15 brand new books to add to their own personal library.
