The Jefferson County Board of School Commissioners will have a work session tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the JCHS media center to discuss the 2012-2013 budget.
   
White Pine School's Science and Energy Team (SET) finished 1st in TN and 1st in the US in the  Green In Action Award.   This announcement was made in Nashville today at the annual banquet for Green Energy Foundation.  CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WHITE PINE SCHOOL SCIENCE AND ENERGY TEAM!  WOOHOO!
   
Seventy students from Maury Middle School and Jefferson Middle School competed in the Middle School Math Competition on Friday, May 4th.  The competition was held at Pellissippi State Community College, and 30 schools and approximately 700 students were in attendance.  David, a 7th grade student, at JMS won 5th place in the competition.  He received a trophy and a $50 Wal-mart gift card.  WAY TO GO DAVID!
   
Students from Jefferson Elementary School lined the school fence to show support for  Staff Sergeant David McCollom on his walk from Knoxville to Washington D.C.  The soldier is walking in honor of his best friend who lost both legs in a road-side bombing.  Sgt. McCollom was presented with student-made flags; and the students were thrilled when they learned the flags would be placed in Arlington Cemetery on Memorial Day.  Students have raised $150 for the Wounded Warrior Program.   The story will be featured on WVLT (channel 8) today at noon and 4:00 p.m.   PHOTOS

Kindergarten Round-Up

Jefferson County Schools will have a Kindergarten Round-Up for registration of all children who will be eligible for Kindergarten the fall of 2012.  Registration will be held at each elementary school on either May 21 or May 22 from 3:30-6:30.  Please see the individual school schedule listed below.  CLICK HERE FOR INDIVIDUAL SCHOOL SCHEDULES.
