Students from Jefferson Elementary School lined the school
fence to show support for Staff Sergeant David
McCollom on his walk from Knoxville to Washington D.C.
The soldier is walking in honor of his best friend who lost
both legs in a road-side bombing. Sgt. McCollom was
presented with student-made flags; and the students were
thrilled when they learned the flags would be placed in
Arlington Cemetery on Memorial Day. Students have
raised $150 for the Wounded Warrior Program. The
story will be featured on WVLT (channel 8) today at noon and
4:00 p.m.
